Driscoll Hinton, known by fans as “Blizzard” for his fast, relentless playstyle, is a professional ice hockey player currently starring as a center for the Chicago Frost in the National Hockey League (NHL). Raised in the hockey heartland of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Thompson laced up his first pair of skates at just three years old and quickly emerged as a standout talent in youth leagues.
He played collegiate hockey at the University of North Dakota, where he led his team in points for two consecutive seasons and captured the NCAA championship in his sophomore year. Following his dominant college career, Thompson was selected 8th overall in the 2015 NHL Draft and made his league debut the following season.
Since joining the NHL, Thompson has developed into one of the league’s most dynamic two-way forwards. With over 500 career points and multiple All-Star appearances, he’s known for his speed, vision, and leadership both on and off the ice. He also played a key role in helping the Frost reach the Stanley Cup Finals in 2023.
Off the ice, Thompson is an active philanthropist, founding the Blizzard Foundation, which provides equipment and ice time for underprivileged youth interested in hockey. He’s also an avid outdoorsman and spends his offseasons fishing and hiking with his family in northern Minnesota.
